
I have been staring at this photo a while to understand why I like it so much. It honestly has nothing to do with the person / water / whales and mostly to do with the pattern of the rock on that white snow. You could easily replace that white with just about anything. Creating continent-esque structures with nearly any background, be it oceans, stone walls, a photo of a galaxy.
I just really like the obscurity of the rock. We only know it is rock because of the context.

I was speaking with some friends about color usage recently. It would seem that we are heading towards a period of lowered chroma and it never hit me before now, but could instagram be pushing the trend?
